The Berkeley Team

  • Arthur Trueger is the founder of Berkeley. He has been responsible for approximately $2 billion of private equity investments, into many of the most successful US technology companies. Arthur Trueger is regarded as one of the leading venture capitalists, and he has been active in the industry since 1980. He speaks French, German and some Japanese. Arthur Trueger holds AB, MA, and JD degrees from the University of California.

  • Halsted W. Wheeler is one of the principals at BICC. He is active in deal sourcing, due diligence and portfolio management. Prior to joining BICC in 1983, Mr. Wheeler worked as a special projects manager with Jelliff Corporation and as a marketing representative with IBM Corporation. He holds a BA degree from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Michael J. Mayer is one of the principals at BICC. He joined the company in 1984 and has had a lead role in managing its venture capital and strategic portfolios. Prior to joining BICC, Mr. Mayer was a partner at Price Waterhouse, with a focus on the high technology industry. He holds a BA degree from Washington State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

  • Robert A. Cornman is one of the principals at Berkeley; he joined in 1986. He received his BA degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and received his JD degree, with emphasis on international law, through GGU, Tulane University School of Law and Université de Grenoble (France); he also completed post-graduate legal studies in Federal Securities Law at Stanford Law School, and attended the LLM Program Droit des Affaires (Business Law) at the Université de Grenoble (Faculté de Droit). He speaks French and Cantonese (conversational).
